 ok heres my update,
i need somewhere to do my paper and im picking xanga.

my hero is a man who expresses himself anonymously with stencils, he does these stencils in high traffic areas and has gone around the world spraying his famous stencils. He is an anarchist environmentalist and was born in england, where most of his work can be easily seen in london. The man obviously takes risk in doing what he does and not only that but he is perseverant and dedicated to his art. His interest in graffiti started when the aerosoul craze happened (circa late 80's) he decided to quit doing freehand graffiti when the police almost had caught him and he had to hide under a train for a pair of hours. After that he decided to pick up stenciling for various reasons, one of them being it was easier and quicker to do.

The art he does has alot of social commentary and/or political messages. (i.e., anti-war,anti-establishment,anti-capitalist,pro freedom, etc). Lately he has not just used stencils as a medium, hes been doing other things too, such as canvas paintings, and "high profile" art pieces such as an inflatable doll which he snuck into disneyland. the doll was dressed as a prisoner from guantanamo bay and also handcuffed, he inflated the doll in the set of a ride, big thunder mountain railroad which is a desert setting. Another recent feat was him painting pictures of the wall crumbling and "the other side" of the isreali west bank barrier.

Always turning heads with his concepts; His satirical pieces of art reflect todays society. Somewhere in the united states he painted typical letters on the floor that said "fat lane" and they looked like they were to say bicycle lane or something of that sort. Another one of his concepts is a helicopter with a pink bow tie on it, and another is what appears to be a terrorist bomber, but instead of bombs hes throwing flowers. His work could at times be compared to political cartoons.
One of his grandest feats was also installing fake, revisionist pieces of art(satires of mona lisa and others) in the louvre.

His pieces are highly controversial and he has to keep a low profile because for a long time now he has been pursued. He is a nuisance to the police solely for the fact that his work is famous and everywhere and that he is looked up upon for being the person he is, a revolutionary artist with a left wing agenda. lately he still continues doing what he does but he has also been undergoing a transition from out of the streets and into the galleries. He has been making alot of money off his work and many famous people want to own a "banksy". An apparently rich man also BOUGHT a wall in england with banksys graffiti on it, the removal alone will cost an arm and a leg and then the piece itself is also very expensive.
